M・A・O (voice of Hikari Yagami)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

When I first read the script for Part 5, I realized, ah, we’ve finally come to this point…I wonder what’s going to happen in Part 6…During the post-recording, everyone was friendly and in good spirits, and we talked about what might happen next. Kinoko Yamada-san also happened to bring actual oolong tea leaves to the recording site, and when we made tea from it during our break, I was really impressed by how delicious it was.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

The scene where everyone was talking to each other during the cave, and you can really feel their bonds and their feelings for each other as friends. I thought that was really wonderful. Also, there’s a scene where Hikari-chan fights against something in her heart, so please pay attention for that. And her beloved big bro is super-amazingly-cool, so please go see it on the big screen at the theater!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

Things finally start to really get going in Part 5, and as the situation gets harsher and harsher, I was really moved, seeing these friends standing next to each of their partners and facing it head-on. I hope you’ll watch over to the very end, and look forward to the final part. Please enjoy it!!

Yuka Tokumitsu (voice of Tailmon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

There were a lot of scenes that deeply moved me while I was reading the script, and the tears just kept pouring down.
And then we got to the end, and it was like “Huh?” What on earth…Oh, it’s too sad…And I thought from the bottom of my heart, what’s gonna happen next? Hurry up and tell me~

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

The Chosen Children all have their own points of view, and they all say things that represent their own characters and really touch the heart.
Also, Taichi is really cool!!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

Something happens that I think will be very shocking for Meiko, Hikari, and all of the fans.
Please enjoy Part 5, Coexistence, which is full of things to look out for.
Do look forward to it.

Junya Enoki (voice of Takeru Takaishi)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

The stuff in this particular movie is also very, very heavy.
This is also the climax of the story, so everything happens at once and a certain shocking thing happens.
Don’t miss the long single shot, too!

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Taichi is especially cool in this one!
I can’t write the exact lines he says because I’m going to spoil it (laughs)
But he had so much resolve, and he snapped himself together so well, it makes you numb!
Seriously, pay attention to Taichi!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

The main keyword for Part 5 would probably be “friends”.
Please go and see the kids and their Digimon, and even the adults, and their conflicts, and bonds, and feelings! Look forward to it!

Miwa Matsumoto (voice of Patamon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

Unexpected things keep happening, one after and another, and you think…are we really going to be able to reach a happy ending for everyone in only one more part?
I think this movie really makes you think hard about what “the right thing to do” is in the first place.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

It’s really cute when the Digimon are watching Agumon and Meiko ❤
And for some reason they had to report to their partners…?!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

Part 5…There’s a huge mountain to climb in front of us.
There are a lot of words that “smack you hard in the heart” scattered throughout the movie.
And there are also a lot of very fun and very cute scenes~!

Yoshimasa Hosoya (voice of Yamato)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

I ended up having to record by myself this time, so, although it was to be expected, I felt that I really missed the fun of recording with everyone.
I was the only one in the recording booth, and yet there still had to be a ton of staff members in the mixing room just because I was there, and I remember feeling really bad about it.
After I recorded that day, I also had to do a video recording, and when I was looking over the video again, I was like, “ah~ I’m tired~ (haha)”, and broke out laughing.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Yamato ends up emerging in a very dramatic atmosphere, so I’m looking forward to seeing what comes out of it.
…Right, so, if you were among the people who came to see us at the event in July1, you’ve probably guessed what’s about to happen, and are thinking “what happened?! Taichi!?”
Incidentally, what Yamato does in response to that is something I think the director really wanted to show.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

We’ve finally come to Part 5, and the story has hit its climax.
Thank you, all of you, for your support.
Only Part 6 is left! And so, once again, please continue to support Digimon Adventure tri.

Mayumi Yamaguchi (voice of Gabumon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

When I read the script, I didn’t think that could possibly happen to Hime-chan, so when we got to post-recording and asked what happened I was really shocked.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

At the very end of the end, Yamato’s determination is really cool!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

Look out for the super-exciting Part 5, pushing us straight towards the end!

Hitomi Yoshida (voice of Mimi Tachikawa)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

They’ve gone through the reboot, their biggest trial to date, and have arrived at Part 5.
I feel that the bonds between the kids, including Meimei, and their Digimon, have gotten even tighter. The title of this movie, Coexistence…is very heavy.
The day after the post-recording for Part 5, there was a Nico Nico Douga livestream2 for Part 4, and I had good memories of my heart pounding when people started blurting out that Taichi was going to turn into a pair of goggles.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Naturally, there’s Meimei and Hikari doing some really emotionally touching stuff, but also, Agumon! Agu-chan!! Gets even more precious!! And also, you can see how everyone grows up even more in Part 5! It’s packed with stuff to see!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

The story is starting to reach its conclusion! In order to reach a future where humans and Digimon live together, each of them has to become hope in their own way, and get back up every time they fall. They’re undignified and yet cool, so please come to the theater to support them.

Kinoko Yamada (voice of Palmon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

So, next to me, there were Jou, Taichi, and Nishijima-sensei, and they started imitating Takeuchi-kun, who plays Hackmon, and none of us could hold back our laughter.
On top of that, near the end, we got an actual earthquake happening as a bonus. So when I watched the preview, I realized for the first time that, wait, this was actually supposed to be a serious movie. Taichi’s been reduced to a pair of goggles! Hey, you three over there, it’s not the time to be doing impersonations! (laughs)

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

The comedy of seeing Yamato during the ghost stories! During the DigiFes survey, that ranked as second place during the “most amusing scene”, didn’t it? Very refreshing.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

A lot of very heavy and painful things happen, but personally I really do like the more refreshing scenes that make you relax. Agumon gets himself together despite all of his gluttony, Taichi’s coolness makes a reappearance, and you get to see Yamato becoming a cute mess! Heh heh heh, be sure to watch it.

Junya Ikeda (voice of Jou Kido)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

The story of tri., which has been piling and gathering up ever since Part 1, is now starting to bloom into something big, and what happened was so shocking that I couldn’t stop turning the pgaes of the script.
Even during the post-recording, I remember feeling a kind of tension that hadn’t been there before, and I remember the tightness of the atmosphere giving me chills.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

The scene where Taichi makes a certain decision. It was the decision of him and him alone, not one the Chosen Children had made together as a group, and it gets your passion all fired up. This movie has a lot of really cool scenes!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

The story gets you sweating and your heart pounding, and it’s like an unyielding storm. Please go to the theater and watch, with your own eyes, what decision the Chosen Children and their Digimon make, and how the story will unfold from here.

Junko Takeuchi (voice of Gomamon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

They’re starting to feel the impacts on the real world that they love so dearly, and that’s exactly why the kids struggle so amazingly hard to do something about this, and it’s hard, but you feel for them.
Seeing this dilemma that they can’t solve by feelings alone is really heartwrenching.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

The scene with Taichi and Agumon.
Taichi gracefully accepts the magnitude of the situation, and Agumon tells him something as simple as “when you’re hungry, eat something!”, but he’s really saying something very important in such an obvios way, and it made me fall in love with Agumon even more.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

The Chosen Children will still have to be facing more trials from now on, and, instead of running away from it, will need to face it as a team. Of course, their partner Digimon will continue to act as they always do in their very Digimon-like way, all for the sake of their partners. Please give them all of your love.

Daisuke Namikawa (voice of Daigo Nishijima)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

It’s already been exciting so far, but you can really feel the atmosphere of a proper climax. The sense of intention and the resolve of each and every character is very cool!

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

I got really attached to Hackmon. I’m also very interested in what happened to Himekawa.
And, well, in the end, Taichi is really cool!! I highly recommend seeing what happens with him!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

The story is really on the move now. Super active!!
And as always, there are a lot of really impactful scenes, and a lot of really heavy scenes!
Look forward to it

Yuuko Kaida (voice of Maki Himekawa)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

The story is really going places, and just when you think some of the mysteries have been solved, yet another new mystery shows up…My head is desperately trying to keep up with it!
During the post-recording, I learned a little bit about what was going to happen in the future, and was really quite shocked.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Meiko-chan’s hesitation, sadness, pain…
It’s hard to watch, but you feel very attached to the journey of her heart, and it makes everyone really want to support her.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

We’re finally at the climax…We’ve come so far.
Please watch over the children to the end!!

Shunsuke Takeuchi (voice of Hackmon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

We’re finally at the critical turning point! It’s really impressive.
Yet again, I felt the strength of their bonds. I really felt it this time in particular. I can’t say too much! So please go see it at the theater.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

This movie has Hackmon come outside under the sun and say something, yup.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

We’ve kept you waiting for too long!
Please go see it at the theater and witness the power of the bonds between Digimon and humans.
Also, Hackmon is also doing his best, so please watch that, too.

Suzuko Mimori (voice of Sora Takenouchi)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

When I first read the script, I saw that the story was going in really shocking directions and there were so many scenes with the kids suffering, and I worried about how on earth they were going to end this series.
At the recording site, everyone got super inspired by how this movie made things run hotter than usual.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

The scene where Meiko makes a certain decision about Meicoomon. It’s about the partner she loves so much, so the feelings in her line grabbed at my heart.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

The climax is approaching, and things are getting more and more serious. It makes you think about what friends are, and what bonds really are. And what’s happened to Taichi? Please, by all means, watch the story of Digimon Adventure tri. all the way to the end.

Atori Shigematsu (voice of Piyomon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

We’re finally at Part 5, with the mysteries having gotten deeper every time, and the shocking events at the end don’t even give you a single moment to rest.
This time, Meiko-chan takes on a huge burden, and Miho Arakawa-chan, who plays Meiko, made a very impressive show. Although, of course, it’s actually a very peaceful atmosphere at the recording site.
This time, Mimorin had to record separately from the rest of us, so for me it was very lonely, but I ended up sitting between Junya Ikeda-kun and Kinoko Yamada-chan, and the resulting experience was rather surreal and thrilling.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Has Taichi evolved into a pair of goggles? What will happen to Tailmon? The evolution sequences are spectacular yet again!
Even though he seems to only be talking about food, Agumon’s words are something that really lodge into your heart.
The Digimon watching over their partners really do show off their own personalities.
The contents are very serious and rather heavy overall, but that’s why I hope the Digimon’s existence can be a healing presence.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

It’s finally come to this.
The Digimon who have lost their memories and regained their bonds with the children — what’s their relationship with them now? And who’s their real enemy?
Every time one mystery is solved, yet another mystery appears.
Meicoomon and Meiko are both suffering so much right now, and I want them to be happy again soon.
The hearts of the Chosen Children are growign together, and I’m sure they’ll make the best choice.
Please go watch them at the theater.

Mutsumi Tamura (voice of Koushirou Izumi)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

Somewhere in there, it was Taichi’s line, but the line about not knowing why the kids still have to fight, was very hard to read. And finally, I realized that things have gotten so serious that we don’t even have lines about oolong tea anymore…

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Meiko-chan’s monologue…and from there, her relation to Taichi, and the Digimon going back and forth behind them. And finally, the conversation between Taichi and Agumon. That part! This part, it’s really painful and sad and it makes you cry, and then somehow it makes you laugh…! It really is exquisit. The conversation betwen Taichi and Agumon hits you really hard yet again. The interaction between the two has a very warm feeling to it. Did I spoil too much?

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

We’re already at Part 5. Just when you’re thinking, maybe we can see how it’s all coming together…?…nope! The mystery deepens even further! Please watch this movie with the thrill of wondering how this is going to end. Meiko-chan’s resolve, and everyone’s feelings. Please go see it at the theater!

Takahiro Sakurai (voice of Tentomon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

There was a series of scenes that were overflowing with tension, right before the climax.
That’s the case for this entire series, but it really has gotten very serious.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Please pay attention to Taichi, who’s struggling very hard in a situation of close calls.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

We’re right before the end, but there’s still a lot of major upheavals. It doesn’t fail to impress this time, either!
Please come see it at the theater.

Miho Arakawa (voice of Meiko Mochizuki)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

When I read the script, I thought about how the “Chosen Children” had to be given such a difficult trial to deal with…The dialogue was so shocking, it really made my heart feel tight.
During the post-recording, we all received homemade cookies from Kinoko Yamada-san, and the deliciousness lightened the strain in my heart a little.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Taichi-san has a very Taichi-san-ish scene, and I highly recommend it.
There’s also a wonderful scene where you can really feel the kindness and compassion of Agumon, so I hope you look forward to seeing what the Taichi-san and Agumon combination pulls off.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

The story has finally progressed to a point where you really can’t take your eyes off it.
I’d really like it if you could go and see it and think about what kind of trials the “Chosen Children” will have to endure, and the meaning of Hikari-chan and Meiko’s facial expressions on the main illustration.
Also, the ending theme song for Part 5 is a very lovely song. If you listen to it and pay attention to the lyrics, I think you’ll love the movie even more.
Please do go see it at the theater.

Yukiko Morishita (voice of Meicoomon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

I’m always nervous before I read a script for Digimon Adventure tri. But this time, it was even more shocking than ever!! This is too huge a trial for everyone to have to go through…And mah seniors are so cute…It was so hectic that my heart pounded and my chest hurt.
On the flip side of such shocking events, we were all super-cheery during the recording, and we got along really well, and it was a lot of fun!

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Everything is a must-see, so it’s hard to pick one and go “this one!”, but…Taichi’s chivalry is through the roof. Hikari and Tailmon. Meiko’s determination. Yamato’s fear of ghost stories. Mah cute seniors. And also, Raguelmon, her name was?
It gets you super-anxious and your heart twirling and everything closes in.

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

We’re heading towards the final part, and we start at Part 5. Also, you’ll finally know the answer to the mystery of Part 5’s poster. I hope you can go see it at the theater.

Natsuki Hanae (voice of Taichi Yagami)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

This movie has so many shocking things happening in it that, when I was first reading the script, my heart was pounding…wondering what was going to happen next.
Our sense of unity at the recording site for Part 5 was even stronger than before!

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Taichi gets to be particularly cool in Part 5, so do go and see it on the big screen!
There’s also a certain scene for which the director said, “Taichi’s lines here embody the whole of tri.,” so please keep an eye out for it!

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

I say this every single time, but the further we go in, the more interesting it gets!
Look forward to the release!

Chika Sakamoto (voice of Agumon)

1. Please tell us about your impressions when you read the script for Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence, the atmosphere during post-recording, and anything that left an impression on you.

Nishijima-san’s title is so loooooooooooooooong, like it came out of some kind of penalty game3, but here Namikawa-kun just dropped “I represent the Incorporated Administrative Agency, National Data Processing Bureau, Information Strategy Section, Information Management Office,” so smoothly and so cool, and I wanted to give him a round of applause.

2. Please tell us if there are any points in Digimon Adventure tri. — Part 5: Coexistence that make you go “Please look at this! I highly recommend this!” (It doesn’t have to be a scene you were in)

Meiko goes through so much pain, and has so much love for her partner, and the bonds between her and her friends have gotten even deeper, and through all sorts of scenes I kept thinking “each and every one of these kids is evolving!”

3. Please leave a message for the Digimon fans who are looking forward to Part 5.

Agu-chan gets to talk, just a little more, than he did last time (laughs)
The evolved Digimon are very cool.
Some very thrilling and exciting things happen.
Look forward to it!

Translator's notes
  1. The “event in July” most likely refers to DigiFes 2017, which premiered a promotional trailer for the movie. []
  2. Nico Nico Douga is a Japanese video sharing site known for its system of having comments scroll across the screen at the point in time of the video the comment was submitted to. It also has a live streaming system, which many Adventure tri.-related events were streamed on. “Taichi becoming a pair of goggles” quickly became a popular meme due to the way Part 5’s trailer was framed, since it only had Hikari going “Taichi…why…?” at the pair of goggles on the ground with no further context. []
  3. Sakamoto refers to a “penalty game” in the sense of a Japanese custom involving doling out a punishment to the loser of a competition or game; hence, Nishijima’s title is so long that it’s the kind of thing you’d force someone to recite as a “penalty” for losing. []
