“Let’s Gotsumon, Pumpmon ~Gotsumon & Pumpmon’s Theme~” (レッツゴツモン、パンプモン ~ゴツモン&パンプモンのテーマ~)
Lyrics: Shouko Ohmori
Composition: Cher Watanabe
Vocals: Gotsumon (CV: Yuu Sugimoto) and Pumpmon (CV: Haruhi Terada)

[Gotsumon] We’re Gotsumon, [Pumpmon] Pumpmo~n!
[Gotsumon] If it’s something fun, [Pumpmon] we’re super-super here for it, c’mon!1
[Both]
Let’s Go! Let’s head for Shibuya
Hurry, Go! Eating chocolate on the way
Take off and Go! Hitching a ride on the subway
Go wild and Go! Forget battles, let’s carnival

[Both]
(Yo!)

[Pumpmon]
(Hey, hey, Gotsumon, look!)
[Gotsumon]
(What’s that?)
[Pumpmon]
(I brought ice cream!)
[Gotsumon]
(Whoa! Thank you~! I’ll help myself!)
[Pumpmon]
(Here, have some!)
[Both]
(giggle)
[Gotsumon]
(…But it’s a little melted…)
[Pumpmon]
(Ah. Sorry…)
[Both]
(giggle)

[Pumpmon]
Wait up, we’re so excited we’re jumpin’
We’re just minions, but we’ve got a lot comin’
We’ll go [Both] all the way, [Pumpmon] no regrets to be made
Like Halloween every year that’s only a day
We wanna play around here in Shibuya, [Both] we say!

[Pumpmon]
I’m gonna be a star, I sing myself a song
I’m totally lost in thoughts with some kind of fun
I show up when you least expect it, no warning made
With my snazzy shirt from the 1092, [Both] I’ll snag you
[Girl]
“But y’knoooow, that pumpkin head makes anything you wear look weeeeird~”
[Pumpmon]
Don’t care, whatever you say, I’m good, I’m fine
We’ll toast with some juice, my dignity’s still mine
For a Shibuya-type Digimon3, [Both] that’s just a given

[Gotsumon] We’re Gotsumon, [Pumpmon] Pumpmo~n!
[Gotsumon] If it’s something fun, [Pumpmon] we’re super-super here for it, c’mon!
[Both]
Let’s Go! We’re waiting in Shibuya
Hurry, Go! Eating ice cream on the way
Take off and Go! Taking the taxi down
Go wild and Go! Forget battles, let’s carnival

[Both]
(Check it out!)

[Gotsumon]
(Hey, hey, Pumpmon!)
[Pumpmon]
(What’s up?)
[Gotsumon]
(Why’s everyone got dark faces?4)
[Pumpmon]
(Well, that’s because they’re all Shibuya-type!)
[Gotsumon]
(Oh! Then we should do it, too!)
[Pumpmon]
(Yeah!)
[Gotsumon]
(Yeah!)

[Gotsumon] Wait up, you guys are tired when it’s not even late? [Pumpmon] (Tired…)
[Gotsumon] It’s the turn of the century, that’s no time to wait [Pumpmon] (Really?)
[Gotsumon] We’ll show off our attacks, that’ll give things a shake [Pumpmon] (Yep!)
[Gotsumon] But fighting’s not as fun as hitting on girls today [Pumpmon] (Yeah!)
[Gotsumon] We wanna play around here in Shibuya [Both] our way!

[Gotsumon] I’m gonna get the lead part, [Pumpmon] (Yeah!) [Gotsumon] but I’ve only got the bit part [Pumpmon] (Hm…)
[Gotsumon] My chance to stand out is here, I’ll try anything, [Both] you hear
[Gotsumon] And somehow I suddenly end up as a regular [Both] comin’ in
[Gotsumon] I’ll go find a girlfriend in front of Hachikou5 [Both] and snag her
[Girl] “But y’knoooow, I really hate hard-headed guys~”6
[Gotsumon] Don’t care, whatever you say, I’m good, I don’t mind [Pumpmon] (Don’t mind!)
[Gotsumon] I’ll help myself to more takoyaki7 and it’ll be all right [Pumpmon] (All right!)
[Gotsumon] For a Shibuya-type Digimon3, [Both] that’s just a given

[Both]
Takeru and Patamon are welcome
Yamato and Gabumon are welcome
Any invitation to come play is welcome
And if we get sleepy, we’ll nom some mint gum

[Gotsumon] We’re Gotsumon, [Pumpmon] Pumpmo~n!
[Gotsumon] If it’s something fun, [Pumpmon] we’re super-super here for it, c’mon!
[Both]
Let’s Go! Let’s head for Shibuya
Hurry, Go! Eating chocolate on the way
Take off and Go! Hitching a ride on the subway
Go wild and Go! Forget battles, let’s carnival
Let’s Go! We’re waiting in Shibuya
Hurry, Go! Eating ice cream on the way
Take off and Go! Taking the taxi down
Go wild and Go! Forget battles, let’s carnival

[Both]
(Wow!)

[Both]
(Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo!)
(Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo!)
(Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo!)
[Gotsumon] (Check it out!) [Pumpmon] (Yo! Yo! Yo!) [Both] (Yo!)
[Both] (Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo!)
[Both] (Ha! Yo! Yo!) [Pumpmon] (Yo!) [Gotsumon] (Yeah!)
[Both] (Yo! Wah! Yo! Yo!)

Translator's notes
  1. Most Japanese songs do not rhyme, but since this is a rap, a rhyme scheme is noticeable in the song. While I didn’t particularly attempt to make the translated lyrics fit in the original meter, I tried to translate it in a way that the original rhyme scheme would be mirrored in order to keep the song’s sense of flow. []
  2. “109” = Refers to the 109 department store building in Shibuya. The building is next to the famous Shibuya scramble crossing and serves as a sort of representative symbol for the area. []
  3. The “Shibuya-type” (渋谷系, Shibuya-kei) is a bit of a pun, because while Shibuya-kei refers to fashion and hobby trends in Shibuya, –kei also can be used to casually describe a “type” or “sort” in the same way you’d describe a kind of Digimon. [] []
  4. Gotsumon is probably referring to ganguro, a fashion trend that involves artificially darkened skin and was still somewhat popular when Adventure aired in 1999. As a place known for being a fashion center, it would not be uncommon to find people (mostly women) in ganguro fashion in Shibuya. []
  5. Hachikou = Referring to the statue of Hachikou, which was set up in honor of a dog that continued waiting for his owner at Shibuya Station even after his owner had already passed away. The plaza surrounding the statue is an open area and the statue itself is an easy-to-spot landmark, so it’s often used as a meeting spot. []
  6. The girl says she hates guys who are “unrefined”, using the word “gottsui“. The word also means “hard” or “rough”, and is the etymology for Gotsumon’s name. []
  7. Takoyaki = A common form of street food, usually consisting of diced octopus in fried batter rolled into balls. []
